Bonnets for motor-cars comprisesheet metal panels hammered or rolled to produce a broken surface and then coated by eleetrodeposition with a non-rusting metal, such as copper, the desired colour being obtained by a so-called oxidization process or treatment with sulphur. The higher parts of the broken surface may be rubbed off or abraded to change the colour at those parts.
