Abstract

Articles of aluminium and its alloys are electrolytically treated to form a protective coating which may be painted, stained, varnished or lacquered. Defective coatings may be removed by dipping in 5-10 per cent hydrofluoric acid or 10-20 per cent caustic soda solution; the articles are then washed and polished and re-coated.
