Abstract

319,543. Abery, E. H., White, C. J., and Clarke, J. H. Dec. 3, 1928. Combinations of interdependent valves; interlocking. - The operating handles 17, 20 of the water and gas valves 16, 21 of a geyser are interconnected by means of a link 19 with a lost-motion slot at each end. The gas valve 21 is locked in the closed position by the heel 29 of its lever 20 which is engaged by a cam disc 27 on the tap of the pilot jet so that the gas valve 21 cannot be opened until a spring-pressed sliding catch 30, 31, 32 has been withdrawn and the pilot valve turned to its open position. The water valve 16 is always free to be opened independently of the gas valve 21, but when the pilot is open the water and gas valves can be opened simultaneously from a single point by the handle 20 of the gas valve 21. The pilot valve is automatically closed, when the gas valve 21 is moved to its closed position, by means of an arcuate portion 33 on the inner end of the lever 20 engaging the periphery of the cam disc 27.
