Abstract

214,761. Joel, J. A. Feb. 7, 1923. Locking catches.-The plug of a gas tap is provided with an axially sliding stem having a catch h which automatically locks the plug in closed position. The plug 4 is provided with a slot 13 into which projects a tongue 12 on the lower end of an axially slidable stem 11. A slot 17 is formed in the upper face of the body 3, and is engaged by the flat handle 10 when in the closed position. When it is required to open the valve, the handle must first be withdrawn from the slot against the spring 16 before rotating the plug. The slot 17 mav have inclined sides so that the valve may be opened by increased turning effort. Specification 24801/09 is referred to.
