Acetylene lamps; handles.-A cycle lamp which may also be used as a hand lamp has a slidable handle formed by a transverse member k, and a pair of vertical strip members j arranged to slide through a rotatable closure piece a at the upper end of the water chamber b so that the vertical members extend into the water chamber when the handle is not required. The dished closure piece a is held in position by a spring c acting against the rotatable head d of the valve stem e and has holes adapted in one position to register with holes i in the top of the water chamber for filling. When the closure piece a is turned so as to close the holes' i the handle can be pressed down so that the vertical members j pass through the holes i, the handle thus serving as a lock. Inturned ends L of the vertical members j take into pressed-up parts m of the closure piece in the raised position to allow of rotation to expose the holes i.
