Breech actions, sliding breech-block; stocks.- A device for locking the barrel 36 to a ring 48 on the front of the stock 47 is in the form of a bolt 50 which is pushed transversely through the ring and engages a notch 53 in the barrel. In the form shown, the bolt passes between the barrel and the gas chamber 40, and is rotated through 90‹ to bring lugs 51, 52 on the bolt against the barrel and gas chamber, respectively. The bolt is turned by a swivel head 56 which, in the locking position, engages in recesses 60, Fig. 11, in lugs 61 on the ring 48. To unlock the parts, the swivel is turned through 180‹ on the end of the bolt; recesses 63 in the swivel are then opposite the lugs 61 and the bolt can be rotated to its unlocking position when it can be withdrawn through a slot 64.
