Valves controlled by pilot or relay valves. - An automatically closing valve is controlled by a balanced-piston auxiliary valve actuated by a piston or diaphragm subject to the pressures derived from a pair of Pitot tubes arranged in the main conduit. The main hinged valve is hung by a pair of arms from a shaft having a lost motion connection with a pulley f connected by a weighted flexible connection g with the rod h' of a piston working in a cylinder h. The control valve comprises a pair of pistons m, m<1> subject to the same pressure on their outer surfaces and adapted to connect a port n' leading to the actuating cylinder either to an exhaust port n or to a pipe j coupled to a Pitot tube i pointing up stream. The two Pitot tubes r, r<1> are arranged. concentrically and are connected by pipes j, j' to the opposite sides of a piston k coupled to the auxiliary valve m, m<1>. The auxiliary valve may also be actuated by a screwed spindle p.
