Abstract

307,160. Nasmith, F., and Sidebotham, F. Jan. 19, 1928. Tension arrangements; creel arrangements.-To control the delivery of yarn or the like from bobbins or like supports the yarn is led from the surface of the package through the interior thereof along or parallel to the axis and friction or drag is applied while it is so -passing. A tubular liner 13 is fitted in the bobbin and is provided with a sleeve 18 of fur or like material to apply drag to the yarn 19. A spring 17 retains the liner in place and a flange 14 with a concave undersurface engages the head of the bobbin. The ends of the liner are rounded and the interior preferably highly polished. The device is applicable to various kinds of bobbins and in particular, to yarn packages for knitting-machines. Specification 287,202 is referred to.
