Speer-indicator transmission mechanism.- Relates to hand tachometers having several ranges of measurement which can be brought into use as desired and consists in employing change-speed gearing in which a pinion and several lay shafts carrying wheels in constant mesh therewith are arranged eccentrically in relation to a driving pinion. The constituent members of the tachometer proper are mounted on a framework 3 which carries the lay shafts 5, 6, 7 of the change-speed gear. A pinion 1 is mounted on the main shaft 4 of the tachometer while the change speed gear comprises three sets 8, 13; 9, 14; and 10, 15 mounted on shafts 5, 6, 7. The wheels 8, 9, 10 are disposed on one plane and always in mesh with the pinion 1. The wheels 13. 14, 15 are also disposed in one plane. The frame 3 is attached to the casing. The driving shaft and pinion 2 are mounted eccentrically in a cover 11 enclosing the frame, the cover being adapted to rotate about the axis of the tachometer so that the pinion 2 will mesh successively with the wheels 13, 14, 15. The main shaft 4 and the driving shaft 16 may be stationary, and the change wheels mounted on internally guided plates, and brought into mesh by being turned from the outside by a lever.
