Differential or balance gearing.-In differential or balance gearing, particularly for use in the propeller shaft in four-wheel drive gear for automobiles, the driving-shaft 1 enters the centre of the gearing and carries, with some play upon starlike arms 10 secured thereon, a double gear-wheel 6 supported eccentrically by gearing with an external wheel 4 on one driven shaft 2 and an internal wheel 5 upon the other driven shaft 3. Preferably the numbers of teeth of the interengaging wheels differ by one. Limited differential action only is permitted. A stationary or loose casing 12 is provided. Specification 139,607 is referred to.
