Abstract

299,207. ChÚron, (nÚe Faivre), L. R. Nov. 19, 1927. Seat adjustments; spring mountings and supports; rests, head.-In a seat of the suspended type with adjustable pivoting elements the whole seat is pivoted transversely at a point near the normal position of the sitter's knee and means are provided for quickly adjusting and fastening vertically and longitudinally the front and rear supports. Means are also provided for damping the movement of supports and for braking such damping. As shown the chair comprises a shaped framework 2 with transverse straps or springs 3, Front supports 6 slide in casings 7 in which they are positioned by pins 36 engaging holes therein. The casings 7 are pivoted at 8 and the supports 6 at 4. The two supports are connected together bv an axle or may be independently mounted. - The pivots of the casings 7 are arranged on longitudinally slidable frames 9. The back of the seat comprising frames 23 and springs 25, is pivoted at 24 to rigid members 14 supported by telescopically slidable supports 18, Figs. 1 and 5, adjustably fixed by pins 36 to casings 20. The latter slide telescopically against the action of springs 44 as shown in Fig. 5, the movement being damped by the friction of a cork or like element 52 adjusted bv a screw 54. By means of a toothed cam 31 the back may be adjusted, a projection 34 thereon being varied in position. A neck rest 26, Fig. 2, is adjustably supported by a rod 27.
