Abstract

448,367. Bed-rests. JACKSON, J. A., 7, Suffolk Street, Birmingham. July 13, 1935, No. 20074. [Class 52 (ii)] A bed-rest or back-rest comprises a rigid back panel 7 a cushion of sponge rubber or other material on one side of the panel, a loose cover 9 detachably secured at its edges to the panel, e.g. by press-studs 10 or by drawstrings, and an adjustable support comprising frames 13, 14 hinged to the back of the panel. The panel may be secured to a frame 6 provided with notches into which the frame 14 engages for adjustment. The panel 7 may be cut away at 11, the aperture being covered with sheet rubber &c. to increase the resilience of the cushion. The frames 13, 14 may be folded flat against the panel 7, as shown in Fig. 4. Straps 21 to secure the device to a bed rail, and arms 22 adapted to fold, may be provided.
