Abstract
416,758. Seats; frames. BREUER, M., 11, Talstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. Nov. 20, 1933, No. 32357. [Class 52 (ii).] In chairs or seats in which the frame is formed of resilient bars or tubes comprising base members 2, Fig. 1, integral with front support members 1 and horizontal seat supporting members 4, spring support members 7 are provided between the base members 2 and the seat members 4, and either the seat members or the support members are extended to provide either arm rests or back rests. The frames may be of metal, wood, or synthetic material, or of a combination of these. The spring support members 7, Fig. 2 and 6, may be extended to form arm rests 8, or to form the back rest 5, Figs. 8 and 9, in the latter case the seat supporting members being also extended to form the arm rests 8. The main frame and the spring supports may be of different material, e.g. wood and steel respectively, as shown in Fig. 12. Figs. 13 and 16 show frames constructed from flat steel strip, slit so as to leave a connection at one end. In the first example, the seat support 14, and in the second the spring support 17, is extended to form the back rest support 15. Fig. 19 shows a similar frame in which the strip is folded at the point of connection ; separate strips may be used as shown in Figs. 20 and 23. 'These frames are preferably constructed as two side portions, and the seats and backs secured thereto.
