884,266. Vehicle seats. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. Jan. 7, 1960 [Jan. 24, 1959], No. 659/60. Class 52(2) A vehicle seat comprises a moulded shell 4 with seat cushion 5 and back cushion 6 mounted by transverse rods or pins 2 and 3 either on rocking arms 10 and/or 13 or in guide ways 7 and/or 15. The seat is held in its adjusted position by a suitable means indicated by a broken line at 32 or 33. In the case with two pairs of rocking arms the lower ends of the rear arms are higher than the lower ends of the front arms. The rocking arms may be separate members or joined in pairs by a cross member or have the distance apart of the upper joints greater or smaller than that of the lower joints or form an inverted V-shape or be made out of a strip of sheet metal. The pivot pins may be removable, normally being held in place by a spring, so that the seat shell may be removed from the vehicle. The seat shell may be of a two part construction with a pivotal adjusting device which coincides with the axis of the rear supporting pins. The pins may be disposed on eccentric discs to provide additional adjustment of the seat. A safety belt may be fitted to the rear supporting pins.
