823,014. Bed settees. THOMAS, J. R. Feb. 24, 1958, No. 5942/58. Class 52(2) A bed settee with a frame in which are mounted a seat section 20, an intermediate section 22 and an outer section 24 for extension to form a bed or folding to form a seat has behind a fixed front board 16 and extending downwardly and inwardly from its upper edge, guiding and supporting means comprising at each side a curved plate 114 with a bracket 116 for mounting a roller 118, the plate 114 engaging wheels of outer 'legs 88 or inner legs 86 and the rollers 118 engaging other folding parts to support and guide them over the fixed front board during folding and unfolding. During unfolding seat section 20 is inverted on links 26, 28 about pivots 30, 32 on mounting members 34 secured to the settee side arms 10 to lie behind section 22 which moves forward with the outer section. The weight of the foldable sections is partially counterbalanced by springs 126, 128 attached to links 26, 28 and stop pins 38 hold the seat 20 in its inverted position. Flexible straps 46 each connected by a helical spring 48 with a cross rail 50 and by springs 56 to a support at the other end of section 20 or to a wire bed fabric extending in the other two sections supports a loose seat cushion or the bedding &c.
