A bed-settee comprises a fixed frame, a mattress frame of several pivoted sections, an upholstery board supporting frame carried by a section, a mattress supporting fabric, conical helical springs mounted on the upholstery board frame for giving a resilient front edge to the seat when in settee position and a cushion supporting fabric carried by one or more of the sections and by the conical springs. The fixed frame 1 comprises side members connected by transverse members 2, 2a of which member 2a constitutes a toe-board while the mattress frame 3 consists of four pivoted sections comprising side bars 5, 6, 9, 15 respectively interconnected transversely by a spring supporting mattress surface 38. The first section is pivoted to a bracket 4 in the fixed frame 1 and also to the bars 6 of the second section. The third section is provided with a supporting frame for an upholstery board 12 which, in the settee position rests on, and is prolongation of, the toe board 2a. This supporting frame also carries a series of conical helical springs 43 the top edges of which are connected to a stout wire 44. The fourth section comprises side bars 15 and end transverse bar 17 and, in addition to the spring surface 38 carries a cushion supporting fabric 41 which is connected to the side bars, end bar and springs 43. A plate 36 is pivoted at the end of each bar 15, the plate having secured thereto legs 32, 35 and being linked to bars 9 by links 37. The second section also carries pivoted legs 19 each leg being connected to a bracket 25 on the fixed frame 1 by a pair of links 21, 22 by means of which in folding of the mattress frame the legs 19 are brought into parallel relation with the bars 6. Fig. 5 shows the mattress frame 3 in the process of being folded from the position shown in Fig. 3 to the position shown in Fig.7 the bars 15 being first folded over bringing the springs 43 into settee position, the cushion supporting fabric 41 uppermost, the legs 32 alongside the bars 15 and the legs 35 to rest on brackets 47 on the bars 6 to support the ends of the fourth section. Rearward movement of the mattress frame 3 folds the bars 6 in relation to the bars 5 which are finally pressed into vertical position and the upholstery board 12 is brought down on to the toe board 2a. Counterbalancing springs 28 are provided.
