Abstract
298,976. Atlas-Werke Akt.-Ges. Oct. 18, 1927, [Convention date]. Cabin lights.-In ships' side scuttles in which the glass holder 3 is mounted on top and bottom pivots 4 to the frame 1 fixed to the skin the pivot blocks 6 being operated by a screw 8, Fig. 2, which enables the glass holder when closed to be pressed hard on the packing 5 in the frame 1, and when moved back along the screw 8 to be swung about its pivots to a position approximately at right angles to the frame 1, arrangements are provided to connect the top and bottom screws by gear, such as the chain 10, Fig. 3, passing over the top and bottom spur wheels 11 fast on the screw spindles and over intermediate guide pulleys 13 so that the sliding movement of the glass holder is evenly performed by the application of a key to the squared ends of either top or bottom screw 8. Springs 15 are provided at the corners to eliminate rattle of the. chains during operation.
