Abstract

222,781. Saoutchik, J., and MarÚchal, V. April 16, 1924. Holders for sliding windows.-Operating-means for the sliding windows of vehicles &c. comprise a pair of toothed pinions 1 meshing with racks 7 on the sash frame C, the said pinions being made fast on the respective ends of a common spindle 2, on the centre of which is rigidly mounted a bevel pinion 4 meshing with a bevel wheel 5, mounted on a shaft carrying the operating-handle 12. The bevel gear is housed in a casing 6 which also contains a spiral spring 14 having one end attached to the handle shaft and the other end connected to the casing, the arrangement being such that the spring is tightened by the downward movement of the window and assists the upward motion of the same. For holding the window in any position there is provided a pair of toothed sectors 10 pivotally mounted on the spindle 2 and linked for swinging motion to the cranked ends 9 of a spindle 8. The sectors 10 are maintained in engagement with the racks 7 by a coiled spring 9<a> on one end of the spindle 8, and a controlling finger 11 is provided on the spindle. Both the spindles 2, 8 are carried in brackets 3.
