Abstract

200,407. Chamberlain, C. P. Sept. 12, 1922. Sliding window opening and closing apparatus. A window opening and closing device comprises a fixed rack 26 and an engaging pinion 8, which is axially mounted on a travelling nut on the rotatable screw 11, and has an integral arm 7 engaging a slide on the bottom sash. The screw is rotated by bevel gearing operated by a handle and it rests on a ball which bears on a spring- pressed plate in a bracket in the well. A counterbalancing spiral spring 41 acts on the pinion 8.
