Sliding-window opening and closing apparatus. - Sliding windows, particularly of motorcars, are operated by a rack K attached to and spaced from the window and a pinion engaging same, rotated by the handle H. Means, such as a roller R which may be spring-pressed, are provided to maintain the rack and pinion in contact. Holding-means consist of two studs, g<1>, g<2> adapted to be engaged frictionally with a fixed sleeve by means of a conical screw N.
