Vehicle-window opening and closing apparatus. -Sliding windows, particularly of vehicles, are operated by a lever 10, engaging the slotted bottom rail 5, and gearing 11, 9, 19, a frictional holding arrangement consisting of a large boss 16 engaging the casing 15, Fig. 3, being provided on the spindle 17 of the small pinion 19. An operating handle is mounted on the squared end of the spindle 17. Spring washers 22 are preferably interposed between the casing and boss 16. Balancing springs 14 are attached between the lever and framework 6 of the device.
