Abstract

285,021. Meillat, L. Feb. 8, 1927, [Convention date]. Sliding vehiclewindow opening and closing apparatus. - Rack - and - pinion gearing particularly adapted for windov regulators of the kind comprising a slidable rack 9 gearing with a lantern pinion having two studs 14, the distance between the studs being equal to the pitch of the rack teeth and the axis of the pinion lying on the pitch line of the rack, is rendered self-locking by a spring-pressed channel-member 10 which engages the teeth and holds them against rotation when lying in the plane of the pitch of the rack, Fig. 1. The window-lifting lever 4 is actuated by a pin 7 and slot 8 in the rack, the pinion being rotated by a handle 16 on the squared end of its spindle. The rack is guided by flanges 1<a>, 1<c> on the mounting plate 1 and the spring- pressed stop 10 is housed in a slotted guide 1<b> integral with the base-plate 1. The spindle of the pinion takes a bearing in a boss 12a, Fig. 4, integral with a cover-plate 12. The rack may be pivoted and are-shaped.
