Abstract

Sliding-window opening and closing apparatus; vehicle windows.-Means for raising and lowering vehicle and other windows comprises a rotary device adapted to be operated manually through a worm drive and directly connected to a window by a belt or chain having means to maintain it under constant tension. A belt or chain g, eonnected to a clip d on the window, passes around an upper sprocket wheel h and a lower roller o, the sprocket wheel h being mounted coaxially with a worm wheel i, meshing with a worm j, mounted on spindle k of an operating handle l. The roller o is mounted in bearings p formed integral with or secured to a base plate q, which is slotted to pass over a pair of studs r. To maintain the chain g under tension, coiled springs t are disposed between the studs and the base. plate q. The window may be operated through more than one belt or chain by a common worm drive.
