Abstract

292,578. Sulzer FrÞres Soc. Anon. June 24, 1927, [Convention date]. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-In a doubleacting engine, fuel with air is injected into the upper end of the cylinder, and fuel without air into the lower end of the cylinder adjacent the crank. As shown, fuel is supplied by a pump l to an accumulator k and passes through a conduit h to a fuel injector which is arranged centrally in the cylinder head d and is supplied with compressed air by a conduit i, the valve f of the injector being actuated by a cam q through the parts p, o, n, m. Fuel from the accumulator k passes also to four injectors opening tangentially into the lower end of the cylinder a, the valves g of the injectors being opened simultaneously by hydraulic gear comprising a cam r operating a piston t which periodically delivers liquid through a pipe u to actuate pistons w on the valves.
