Abstract

290,779. Loffler, S, March 16, 1927. Hand gear.-In a steam power plant comprising high and low pressure boilers supplying steam to high and low pressure engines, the low pressure tubular boiler is heated by the high-pressure engine exhaust which passes into a condenser around the boiler, the admission of steam to the high and low pressure engines being varied by hand gear to adjust the pressures in the condenser and low pressure boiler. The reversing- lever 2-1, of the high-pressure cylinder of a compound engine is connected by a rod 26 to an adjustable nut 25 engaging with a screwed, adjusting-spindle 23. The reversing-lever 22 of the low-pressure cylinder is connected by a rod 27 to a threaded rod engaging a hollow spindle 28 rotatable by a hand wheel 29.
