Caps. - The current-carrying parts of caps are made of acidproof non-corrosive materials other than lead, e.g. silica steels, carbon, or graphite. An Edison cap is shown wherein the shell contact A and the centre contact B are made of carbon, a metal coating being applied where necessary to enable the wires to be soldered to them.
