Abstract

499,259. Sparking-plugs. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. May 27, 1938, No. 15867. Convention date, June 1, 1937. [Class 7 (iv)] A two-part casing consists of a flanged and threaded portion 11 and an outer part the inturned end 19 of which is pressed resiliently against. the insulator while its other end 22 is welded or otherwise secured to the portion 11. Washers 21 of C or torus cross-section are placed between the insulatoi and the flange 19. The outer end of the member 18 may, however, be curled inwards tc provide a resilient contact. The member 18 may be formed either with wide slots to allow air to circulate around the insulator, or with narrow slits to permit better contact during welding.
