383,509. Cable-end insulators. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A. -(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts- Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) March 9, 1932, No. 7084. Convention date, March 10, 1931. [Class 36.] A bushing cap for a cable-end insulator 3 is formed as an expansion vessel 1 which is clamped at its lower end by a nut 2 in oil-tight manner against a threaded ring 4 secured to the insulator. The upper end of the vessel 1 is formed with an aperture through which the cable conductor 6 passes, an oil-tight joint being formed between the conductor and the vessel by a nut 9 which presses a packing ring 10 and the edge of the aperture against a flange 7 formed on a tube 8 which is soldered to the conductor 6. To prevent rotation of the tube 8 whilst tightening the nut 9, which may form a contact piece for the conductor 6, a groove 12 in the tube 8 may be engaged by a projection 11 disposed on the edge of the aperture in the vessel 1. The tube 8 is formed with an enlarged bore above the flange 7 in which the conductor 6 is untwisted and soldered.
