Abstract

524,004. Two-part couplings. BROWNE, C. O. Jan. 19. 1939, No. 1908; [Class 38 (i)] A plug and socket coupling for concentric cables &c. has a metal sleeve 6 forming an outer contact that co-operates with a guiding sleeve 3 and with a split plug contact 5 so that the plug and socket contacts are aligned before engagement. Concentric with these contacts are a plug 12 and split socket 8a. The guiding sleeve 3 extends beyond the contacts 5, 8a. The outer conductor or screen 15 of the cable is connected to the sleeve 6 by a member 14 screwed on to the screen 15 and a clamping sleeve 10 screwing on to both the member 14 and the sleeve 6 and having a flange 11 cooperating with a .coned washer 16 to grip the end of the screen. The split plug contact 5 may be reinforced by a spring ring 7 engaging an annular recess inside the contact.
