287,428. Groves, W. W., (Green T. L.). Nov. 15, 1927. Expanding-pulley gearing.-Power is transmitted between shafts 10, 11 by a belt 14 working between pairs of conical discs 15, 16 slidably keyed to the shafts, speed variation being effected by simultaneously adjusting the discs on the shafts by means of pairs of levers 17, 18 pivoted at 23 to members 24 extending from ball thrust bearings 21 mounted on the hubs 22 of the discs, the levers being pivoted at 19, 20 between the shafts and the ends of the levers being pivoted to screw blocks 26 carried by a double-pitched screw 25. Screws 27 are provided for adjusting the pivots 19, 20.
