Vacuum tubes.-A valve has a cylindrical, flanged anode supported by members extending from diametrically-opposite stems into a flange or flanges on the anode, one of the supporting members being in slidable engagement with the anode. As shown, the anode consists of channel sections 18 secured together to form a cylinder with radial flanges 17, and is mounted on leads 20 on a stem 5 transverse to the stems 3, 4; supports 23, mounted in a stem 5<1>. extend partly into slots in a flange and allow slight movement of the anode. Wire braces 22 may connect the flanges. A filament 6 is mounted on the stem 3, and a control grid 8 is mounted on the opposite stem 4. A shielding grid 13 is provided at the ends with collars 14, one of which is rigidly fixed to the stem 3, and the other slides over the stem 4. A getter 25 may be supported from one of the levers 20.
