Abstract

519,278. Thermionic valves. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Oct. 12, 1938, No. 29607. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] A thermionic valve has a multi-filament cathode 15 surrounded by a flat grid 18, both being supported on. insulating spacers 16, 17 carried by side rods 20 secured to terminals 11, 12. The anode 24 is a corrugated U-shaped member closed at the side by a channel member 25, Fig. 2. Leads to the anode and grid are taken to terminals 13, 14 respectively at the opposite end of the envelope. The ends of the filament 15 are connected together and to one rod 20, the mid-point being connected to the other rod. The rods 20 are held in channel 'members 21 which have been split up into fingers to allow for variations in rod spacing each finger being separately welded to the rods. Screen members 28 limit the electron stream axially. The flexible grid lead 27 is secured to a bridge 26 between the grid supports 19, which have a limited movement within the lower spacer 17.
