Making lamps.-In the manufacture of stems fitted with exhaust tubes, the air-passage through the pinch is formed by including a permanent core in the pinched mass. The core may comprise a thin-walled metal tube g, or a porous material, e.g. asbestos or carbon, which is left in to form an air-passage. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following. The air-passage may be formed by a core that may be withdrawn or dissolved out. e.g. a core of magnesia soluble in sulphuric. acid and a support is described for holding the stem tube a, the exhaust tube e, the core g, and the leading-in wires d<1>, d<2> in position during the pinching operation. This subject-matter does. not appear in the Specification as accepted.
