Vacuum tubes.-Thin regular pieces of metals of the cerium group of rare earth metals, particularly misch metal, are made by heating the metal to a red heat and extruding it through a die. Misch-metal round wire produced by such extrusion may be flattened by rolls. Small flat pieces of the metal may be welded or otherwise attached to the plates or other metal parts of radio tubes, lamps, and other evacuated apparatus and after exhaustion, may be vaporized to clean up the, residual gases therein. Specification 225,838 is referred to.
