Abstract

284,693. General Electric Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Patent-Treuhand-Ges. f³r Elektrische Gl³hlampen). Feb. 4, 1927, [Convention date]. Caps; holders. - Bulbs are provided with caps comprising an insulating member 10 cemented into the foot tube 2 and having a central hole 14 to accommodate the exhaust tube 9, and a shoulder 11 adapted to abut against the flared rim of the foot tube, the member 10 being provided with a screw-thread 17 at its outer end to enable it to be inserted into a holder 19 and the distance between the shoulder 11 and the screw contact 17 being such that an extension sleeve 20 of the holder 19 entirely covers the screw contact before it engages with the contact 21 of the holder. Channels 13 are arranged around the cap to permit expansion of the air in the foot tube, and one of these channels is extended at 16 to convey the leading- in wire 7 to the contact 17, while the other wire 8 passes through the bore 14 to the centre contact 15. Cement is applied in the channel 16 to fix the cap.
