Abstract

283,917. Barlow, L. P. Jan. 20, 1927, [Convention date]. Cylinders, cooling. - In a vapour-condensing cooling system, the liquid level in the cylinder jackets is maintained by a valve 33, operated by a float 27. The valour is condensed in a condenser 3 and the condensate flows to a make-up tank 9. A pump 12 pumps the cooling liquid to a distributing box 17 which is connected, to the valve 23 by a pipe 19, and to the tank 9 by a spring-pressed non-return valve and a pipe 34. The tank 9 and the box 17 are located away from, and out of the influence of the heat of, the engine. Air vents 35, 36 are provided.
