Abstract
500,150. Cooling engines. AEROPLANI CAPRONI SOC. ANON. April 1, 1938, No. 10064. Convention date, April 12, 1937. [Class 64 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVII] In a submarine a main engine 3 is cooled by water circulated by a pump 4 through the engine and pipes 6, 7, 8. The pipe 7 has coils located outside the submarine in contact with the cold sea water. A tank 9 for maintaining the supply of cooling water and vapour formed in this tank is led to an exhaust gas tank 11. To compensate for evaporation, water may be drawn from a tank 14 in which the condensate from the exhaust gases is stored.
