Abstract
218,736. Chapman, E. B. April 10, 1923. Drawings to Specification. Cylinders, cooling.-A de-aerating vessel is provided in the circuit of a water circulating system of the type in which a cooling jacket, an extraneously cooled water cooler and a pump are connected in series. Preferably the de-aerating vessel is placed at the highest point of the water circuit and is submitted. to the amount of suction which causes the water to boil at the temperature at which it leaves the cooling jacket. To increase this temperature exhaust gas may be admitted to the vessel. Means may be provided for maintaining the water level. In an arrangement in which a sight feed is provided, comprising return pipes from the cooling jacket leading into funnels open to the atmosphere so that the working of the system may be inspected, the modified de-aerating vessel may be employed.
