Abstract

282,735. Hesselman, K. J. E. Dec. 31, 1926, [Convention date]. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-The combustion chamber 4 is formed as a body of revolution having its axis parallel to that of the cylinder to which it is connected by a wide opening, and the incoming combustion air is whirled, e.g. by a, flange 8 on an inlet valve 7, arranged in either the top or the bottom wall of the chamber 4. The piston 2 has very small clearance and the rotary motion is transmitted from the chamber to the cylinder and vice versa. The fuel injection nozzle 9 directs the fuel across a chord of the circular section of the combustion chamber on to a shield 11 which protects the sparking plug 10, and is heat-insulated from the wall of the chamber 4.
