Abstract

281,583. Boner, A. Aug. 17,1927. Registering webs.-An apparatus for cutting textile material straight with the threads has a brush and a needle for guiding the material on to the knife. For cutting a web transversely a knife 32, spring-mounted needle 38, and a brush 29 are mounted on a band 16 and co-operate with a slotted band 17. The length of material is drawn off by grippers and end grippers 42 are closed to hold the web. The cutter is then traversed to sever transversely the material which is smoothed by the brush and positioned by the needle. For cutting a web longitudinally, the material is drawn past a stationary brush 51, needle 52, and cutter 50, and the severed portions are wound upon rolls 56. In a modification adjustable guides are substituted for the bands 16, 17.
