[Classes 31 (i) and 140] [See also Groups VI and XV] A mechanism for applying sections of labelling material to a continuously advancing web of wrapping material includes a cutter 50 operative to cut off sections from a continuously fed web of labelling or like material and to advance the sections in succession to a position in which they are applied to the continuously advancing wrapper web P. A web of labelling or like material C drawn from a reel R by rollers 26, 27 is fed through a stationary guide 47 and between a rotating drum 49 and a concave member 48. The drum is formed with two diametrically opposite segmental enlargements and with cutters 50, 50<a> coacting with a ledger plate at the edge of the member 48. Each cutter severs a label section, which is then forwarded by the cutter, between the enlargement and the member 48, and at a speed equal to that of the wrapper web, until it comes into register with a pasted portion of the web P and is pressed thereon.
