Card feeding and guiding arrangements. - A card - holding attachment consists of a curved plate mounted at the ends on the platen and provided with a number of springs which urge the top edge of the plate away from the platen, the card being placed in the pocket formed by the plate. The curved plate 10 is provided at the end and near the bottom edge with lugs 11 engaging slots in plates 1, 4 on the platen B, the plate 1 being secured by screws 2, and the plate 4 being mounted loosely on screws 5 and engaged by a spring 6. On pressing a finger 9 on the plate 4 the plate 10 is released therefrom and can be detached. The plate 10 is provided with springs 12, 13 which are free at one end and urge the top edge of the plate away from the platen. The springs 12 form stops for the card, and the edge of the spring 13 forms a side lay, the plate having a registering- mark 14 on the outside. When the plate is in the position shown in Fig. 6 the card is placed in the pocket and the platen is turned by means of a crank 15 to bring the top edge of the card to the printing line. The crank is detachably secured to the platen shaft and is formed with arms 17, 18 for engaging an adjustable stop 19. The bottom edge of the plate remains below the printing line, interference between the card guide &c. and the card or projecting points thereon being thereby prevented.
