Sheet and card feeding and guiding arrangements.-A bail carrying feedrollers is so mounted that the feedrollers can engage the platen at positions remote from or adjacent to the printing line for tho purpose of feeding sheets or cards respectively. A bail 3 carrying feed-rollers 1 is pivoted ou rocking arms 4 secured to a rod 7 which is mounted in recesses in the carriage A and is retained by yokes 9. Springs 11 connected to the bail and yokes retain the feed-rollers in engagement with the. platen. A finger-lemer 20 frictionally pivoted on one of the arms 4 and movable between stops 25, 26 is formed with shoulders 22, 23 co-operating with a stop 24 to determine the position of the feedrcller. When the shoulder 22 engages the stop the feed-rollers occupy the sheet-feeding position, and on pulling forward the bail and depressing the finger-lever the shoulder 23 engages the ston and the feed-rollers occupy the card-feeding position. When the feed-rollers are in either sheetfeeding or card-feeding position the bail can be pulled forward to release the feed-rollers, the movement being limited by contact of lugs on the rocking arms and a lug or roller 16<1> on the bail with the yokes and carriage respectively. On releasing the bail thq feed-rollers are, restored to their original position. When the feed-rollers are out of use the bail is turned back to the position shown in Fig. 5, the bail being retained in this position by the springs 11. When the bail is again depressed it is presented from moving forward with the arms 4 and thereby carrying the feed-rollers to the forward or released position, by means of a pivoted latch 27 having hooks 31, 32 co-operating with a pin 33 on the bail. The latch is pivoted on a rod D and has a lug 30 which is retained in contact with the carriage by a spring 29. When the arms 4 are in the position shown in Fig. 1 or Fig. 5, and the bail is depressed, the pin co-operates with the hooks 31 or 32 and constrains the bail to carry the feedrollers to sheet-feeding or card-feeding position respectively. When the dial is again turned back the pin clicks over one or both of the hooks.
