Abstract

524,757. Typewriters. JARDINE, Ltd., J. and BALL, H. J. Feb. 7, 1939, No. 3927. [Class 100 (iv)] Tabulating-mechanism.-In mechanism comprising a series of stops mounted on the carriage, a lever for selectively projecting the stops is operated by a member, preferably an extension of the carriage-cover, hinged to the carriage. In the mechanism shown in Figs 1 and 5, a lever A, provided with a lug A' for projecting the stops B, is pivoted on a pin H on a yoke G' which is pivoted on a pin F on a plate D secured to the framework. The lever is formed with a rib L which is held by a spring N in engagement with a recess M in the yoke, the arrangement normally locking the lever in erect position, but permitting the lever to be turned downwards about the pin H when out of use. To project a selected stop B, the stop is brought into register with the lever by moving the carriage, and the lever is rocked by depressing a hinged extension J of the platen-carriage cover K. The extension rests on a returning-spring J<SP>2</SP>, and the yoke is connected to a returning spring 0. The stops are restored by means of a rocking bar P provided with a finger lever Q.
