Abstract

185,466. Marks, E. C. R., (Corona Typewriter Co. Inc.). May 4, 1921. Case-shift mechanism; shift-key actions.-The type-bar support or segment 1 can be moved through different distances in the same direction by shift-key levers 8, 9, and is retained in the normal position by a latch 6 releasable by either key-lever the segment when operated by the keylever 8 being arrested by a stationary stop 17, and when operated by the key-lever 9 being arrested by a movable stop 21 operated by an arm 18 on the key-lever 9. A lever 15 connected to the segment is engaged at different distances from the fulcrum by lugs 14, 25 @keylevers 8, 9 respectively. The segment is connected to a returning-spring 5 and normally abuts on a threaded stop-sleeve 3, the segment having a guide-pin passing through the sleeve. The latch is connected to a spring 7 and is formed with an inclined end for engaging the segment.
