Abstract

229,476. Pateman, A., and Imperial Typewriter Co., Ltd. Feb. 5, 1924. Type-lever actions.-To prevent rebound of the type-lever in actions of the kind comprising a sub-lever operated by a link that is pivotally connected to the key-lever at a point between the key and the fulcrum, the free end of the sub-lever 5 is pivotally connected, for instance by a single link 12, to the tail of the type-lever 8, and the pivots 7, 8<a> of the key-operated link 6 are so disposed that when the action is in inoperative position (1) the paths of the pivots intersect at a large angle, and (2) the pivots are approximately in alignment with the fulcrum 2. Preferably, the sub-leyer is arranged vertically and the pivot 4 is below a line connecting the fulcrum 2 and one of the pivots 7, 8<a>. The line through the pivots 7, 8<a> may be tangential to a circle passing through the pivot 7 and having the pivot 4 as centre. The set of sub-levers may swing in vertical planes on a common horizontal pivot 4. The key levers impart accelerated movement to the sub-levers and type-levers. Keys.-Returning-springs 3 for the key-levers 1 are adjustable by means of a revolution cam 15 engaging a pivoted arm 16.
