Type-lever actions.-In actions comprising type-levers connected to front intermediate levers which are connected by links to the key-levers, the links are of uniform length throughout the series of actions, and the points of connection of the links to the key-levers and intermediate levers are varied from bank to bank to obtain uniform dip and touch, the points of connection to the key-levers being progressively nearer the edges from the top to the bottom bank. Fig. 1 shows a single action consisting of a bottom bank key-lever D connected by a flat link N to a front intermediate-lever H which is connected by a link K to the type-lever G. Links N of uniform size and shape are employed throughout the series of actions, the dip and touch being rendered uniform by connecting the links to the intermediate levers and to top, second, and bottom banks of key-levers at the points a - - d and a<1> - - d<1>, Fig. 2, respectively. The points a<1> - d<1> lie on an arc struck from the common pivot of the key-levers. When alternate long and short intermediate levers are employed, the links associated with the top and second banks of key-levers are connected to the short levers H', and the links associated with the third and bottom banks are connected to the long levers H. Each link may be connected to the associated key-lever and intermediate lever at opposite sides thereof. The heels L of the centre typelevers may be arranged at a greater inclination to the type-levers than the heels of the side typelevers. Specifications 529/14 and 241,061 are referred to.
