Type-lever actions.-The connections between the key-levers and type-levers comprise horizontal front-links which are pivoted to the key-levers and are slidably and pivotally supported near the front ends. In the action shown in the Figure, an arm 20 on the key-lever 1 is provided with a rivet 22 on which is pivoted a front-link 21 connected by a link 24 to the type-lever E. The front link is slidably and pivotally mounted in a comb 15, preferably formed on the key-lever comb 13. A returning-spring 26 is connected to a plate 18 and an arm 25 of the front link. A rod arranged over the front links, or passed through slots therein, prevents accidental movement of the front links. To provide uniform dip for the keys, the pivots 22 of the front links associated with the top bank of key-levers are arranged slightly in front of the pivots associated with the second bank, and so on. A mount for the key-levers consists of a channel member 5 having the front wall formed as a comb 6, and having the rear wall formed with bent fingers 7 - - 10, which are arranged in different transverse planes and provide fulcra for the key-levers of the top, second, third, and bottom banks respectively. The key-levers have notches 11 engaging the fingers and are retained by a plate 12. Extensions 28 of the key-levers operate a universal bar 29.
