Abstract

280,396. Broadfoot, J. D. Dec. 29, 1926. Charging batteries. -The batteries are charged by causing the charging current to flow in successive surges of high and low amperage. The generator is electrically connected to a commutator ring C and a spider D is positively rotated and carries brushes F<1>. F<2>, F<3> which bridge the ring to spaced contacts B arranged around the periphery of a stationary disc A. 'The contacts are connected by external resistances H, and certain of the contacts E are connected to the batteries 1. When a brush moves on to one of such contacts, maximum current flows to the battery.
