Commutator switching-arrangements. - An alternating current is converted into continuous current by a commutating device comprising two rotating brushes b connected to the alternating - current supply by means of sliprings, and adapted to engage at a predetermined speed with a stationary contact ring c, made up of two equal segments insulated from each other and connected to the external circuit. The brushes b are adapted to slide in recesses in an insulating member a1, and are held. away from the ring c by springs b1, when the speed is below the predetermined value. The brushes are rotated by a synchronous motor supplied with alternating- current from the same source. The invention is particularly applicable to charging accumulators from magneto-electric machines.
